MM History
Robyn: A good deal of explaining would probably be involved if one was to ask where we got the idea to start this crazy website. So I figured I may as well start explaining it to some degree.
Angie: This should be interesting.
Robyn: :P Anyway, back in 2001, Angie and I were talking about fan fiction or something random, and probably pertaining to Gundam Wing as that was the common interest we shared at the time. She had been reading through FF.net and had found this particular fan fic.
Angie: It was a parody of "12 Days of Christmas" using the Harry Potter characters. It was pretty funny.
Robyn: However, I'd not read the books at this point. I'd seen kids reading them when I was a camp counselor, but hadn't thought anything of it. The fic was really funny, though I was left wondering who on earth these 'Remus' and 'Sirius' people were, having only a very general base of knowledge of the story, mainly from movie trailers I'd seen.
Angie: Movie One was coming out that November, so the Harry Potter craze was coming back again. I don't think Robyn was all that interested in seeing the movie, though.
Robyn: Haha, I thought it was just another kids' movie. But a friend back home dragged me to see it over Thanksgiving break, and it was adorable. And knowing that the books are usually better than the movies that come from them, I figured I'd give the second book a read through.
Angie: But Book Two isn't the best book to start from.
Robyn: Hated it. Still don't like that one much. But Angie insisted that I read Book Three at least.
Angie: Only fair, as it became your favorite book. :P
Robyn: Yeah, yeah, so I read PoA and the rest, as they say, is history.
Angie: Our RP conversations started around this time, I think. And Robyn suggested that we make a little Marauder website.
Robyn: I'd noticed that there weren't many sites focusing on them, so I figured we could do some small thing for them. A shrine or something.
Angie: And I got dragged into this somehow...
Robyn: Dragged my left foot. :P You know you have fun with this as much as I do!
Angie: *grins*
Robyn: *sigh* Anyway, the site has grown by leaps and bounds since then, and it's now in its second incarnation, with this lovely makeover. And that's the history of Marauding Mayhem. Warping innocent minds since June 2002. *grins*
