Pensieve > Time Flies Faster Than Pigs With Wings
31536000 seconds. 525600 minutes. 8760 hours. 365 days. One year.
I know everyone always says this when talking about their website, but I really am amazed that this site has survived this long. This started as stupid conversations that Angie and I would randomly have after I'd gotten hooked on the books. At the end of the term, I said something like, "Hey, we should build a website about this stuff!" There weren't a whole lot of sites about the Marauders back then, and even now I'm a little hard-pressed to name five really good ones. I was in a website-making frenzy at the time, and Angie readily agreed. I had the space, we had the ridiculous imaginations, so why not? It started out small, and it still is pretty small. All the sections have something in them, at least, and new sections have sprung up over the months. There's even forums on the site now, and the membership total is closing in on 30 members. I think that's the size of the anime club here at school, actually.
There are things I like about the site and things I don't. I finally like the layout enough to leave it for another year, but I don't know if I like the fan art I've got up in my gallery. Artists are NEVER satisfied with their work. On occassion I'll make something that I really do like, and will always like, but 9 times out of 10, I'll hate it in six months or less. Maybe I'm just picky, or maybe I'm actually growing as an artist, being able to see the flaws in my work and becoming better because of them. I both love and hate the RPG Insanity section, because it was something that was between friends. It was funny, so I wanted to share it. It was funny to us, so I wanted to keep it to myself. But at this point it's silly to take it down, especially since visitors have taken a fancy to it. And I do have some more things to post there, so don't worry too much about it.
This is starting to sound depressing, or like I'm going to shut the site down. It's not meant to sound like either. I'm glad that so many people have visited and said they like the site, and I don't plan on shutting it down any time soon. It just amazes me when I come up with ideas, and I sit here running them past Angie and I realize that I'm planning really far ahead. When I was checking over the April Fool's layout for errors, I was already thinking about things I could do for next year. It's both scary and exciting thinking about things in the long-term. As college students, we usually don't like to think like that, content to live in the moment and just get by each day.
I could go on and on, waxing about the site and other silly things like that, but that wouldn't be very fun to read. Sometimes that's the best way to go, since sometimes people can say volumes by saying little or nothing at all. So I will stop here.
Thanks to everyone who's visited and supported the site. Here's to causing a little bit of mayhem for another year.
