Tales > A Marauder Tale

"Why, why can't I have James. What does that Evans girl have that I don't!"

A girl named Kassandra Brown stared at her true love from the other side of the transfiguration class room. She loved every little thing about him, his wonderful eyes, the cute round glasses that sat on his cute nose, and his hair, too wonderful to be tamed. She let out a long suffering sigh and looked back down at her notes. They were covered in "JP + KB forever".

The bell rang and everyone got up to leave. Kassandra went to look at James again and saw that he was helping Lily Evans carry her things out of the class room. A horrible anger came into her.

"Stupid Evans, she dosen't deserve him. I do!" she muttered to herself.

She started to pack up her things to and by the time she had finished there was only her and a boy named Remus Lupin left in the class. Remus was one of James's best friends but Kassandra hated him. She thought he was a big know it all. She also found it suspicious that he seemed to disapear from class on certain days.

"Um Kassandra...."

Kassandra turned around quicky just as she was about to leave the room.

"What do YOU want Lupin?" she said in a harsh voice.

"I just want to tell you that I know you like James."

She started to panic.

"What.....I.....you don't know what your talking about!" she spat out angrily.

Remus shrugged and left the class room.

Kassandra stood there, shocked for a minute. Then she went at a run to catch up to Remus.

"How do you know?" she panted after she found him.

"Well, it's obvious isn't it? All you do is stare at him all class."

"I guess that is kind of obvious" she muttered to herself. "Have you told anyone?"

"No," he said simply.

"Oh"

"He loves Lily and he won't go out with you," he said.

She stopped walking and so did Remus.

"Sorry, but it's true" he said plainly.

She stared at him absentmindedly for a few seconds before he walked away. She stood, rooted to the spot, her mouth slightly opened. "How can he say that! How dose he know what James would and won't do!"

She slowly sarted to walk again. "But.....what if he's right! What if it will never happen!" She started to walk a little faster.

"No, it will happen, And I know how!" She turned around quickly and started to run. She kept running and didn't stop until she was where she wanted to be, in the dungeons.

Normally she never went in the dungeons unless she had to, but in this was an emergency and there was only one person that could help her.

"What do you want Brown?" a drawled out voice said to her as she entered the Potions classroom.

"Um...Severus? I, was just...er..wondering, if you could help me make a certain kind of potion?" Kassandra ask very nervously. She found Snape very intimidating.

"What kind of posion?" he asked curiously.

"A...er...love potion?" she asked very quietly.

His face spread into an evil grin. "Why should I do that for you?"

She started to go through her bag. "I'll give you these chocolate frog cards" she said hopfully. Snape looked at the cards for a few seconds before saying "No"

"Please!" she begain to bag "Please! I really need James to like me!"

Snape looked up from the potion he was making. "You mean Potter?"

She nodded.

"Fine then," he said while snatching the chocolate frog cards from her hand "I'll do it. Just promise me one thing. Make sure that pathietic mudblood Evans gets extra mad at him."

She nodded again with a huge smile on her face. She couldn't believe her luck! She left and started to make her way to the Gryffindor common room. When she got there, she saw James, Remus, and James's best friend Sirius, all sitting in the comfy chairs by the fire place. She stared at James for a while before Remus turned and looked at her. She smiled at him in a mocking way before she got up and walked to the girls dorms. "He's going to have to eat his words tomorrow" she thought to herself before she settled in for the night.

An hour before breakfast the next day, Kassandra was down in the dungeons with Snape, watching him put the finale touches on the love potion.

"This should be ready now," he said after fifteen minutes. "It will work best if you slip it into his pumpkin juice."

"Thanks Severus!" she told him before quicky heading out to the Great Hall for breakfast.

When she got there she scanned the Gryffindor table for James and saw that he had already arived. She took a seat right across from him. As she sat down, Remus looked at her suspiciously. He continued to look at her for a few seconds before returning to his plate. Kassandra sat quietly and alert, waiting for when the time came to slip the potion into James's juice while he wasn't looking. Her chance came a few minutes later when an explosion came from the Hufflpuff table. As James and his friends turned around to see what happened she quikly leaned over and poured the potion in.

"That's why Hufflpuffs shouldn't try complicated spells. That's the third one this week!" Sirius said as the three of them laughed and their other friend Peter let out a scared little peeping noice. James picked up him juice and started drinking. "Yes, YES!" Kassandra thought as her finished in in out go. He put down his cup slowly. All of a sudden, he sat up straight and stared dirrectly forward.

"Er...you ok there Prongs?" Sirius asked his friend. "Hello?" he asked again while waving a hand in front of his face. But then, out of nowhere he stood up fast and yelled "I love you, Kassandra!" so everyone in the Great Hall could hear him.

"Whoa dude! what's wrong with you! Your lucky Lily's not here!" Sirius said in a scared and shocked voice. The whole hall was staring know. James took Kassanda's hand.

"I love you so much! Will you go out with me!"

Peter looked like he was going to faint and Sirius was looking green, but Remus quicky dived for his bag and came back up with a clean liquid.

"Sirius! Help me make him drink this!" He uncorked the bottle Sirius made James open his mounth by pinching his nose. Remus poured the liquid down his friend's throut.

"What are you doing!" Kassandra screamed. James coughed and sputtered for a bit, then sat back down slowly.

"What happened?" he said while rubbing his head.

"Dunno," said Sirius, sounding very confused.

"I do" Remus replied as Professer McGonagall came up behind James.

"What is going on around hear!" She sounded exreamly angry.

"Kassandra put a love potion on James, Professer."

"What!" James and McGonagall yelled together. McGonagall was looking at Remus, but James was looking at Kassandra disgustedly.

"Your going to have to come with me Miss Brown."

"No! I...I didn't mean to! I......James!" she looked pleadingly up at him.

"Come along Miss Brown!" McGonagall said more threatenly. Kassandra bowed her head down in defeat and went.

"Who the hell did you know Moony, and why did you happen to have the antidote in your bag!" James asked in an awed voice.

"Just a hunch," he answered while shrugging.

"That was one good hunch you had there," Sirius said as he tried to revive Peter, who had fainted.

"Yeah," James said "Imagine who much trouble I'd be in if Lily was here!"
